Combat support vessel „FRANKFURT AM MAIN” ready for operation again

Ready for operation again: On Monday, September 4th, 2017 the German Navy combat support vessel “FRANKFURT AM MAIN” (A 1412) type EGV 702 (so called “Berlin-Class“) left the dry dock of GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel. Here, on the site of the sister shipyard in Kiel, NOBISKRUG’s repair team has been repairing a stern damage on the 174 m long Navy ship for approximately ten weeks. Beside the extensive steel works – approx. 40 t of steel had to be exchanged – NOBISKRUG executed further maintenance and pipe works which were also due. Again, the shipyard proved that projects can be successfully realized within the given time and budget.

The NOBISKRUG‘s repair team docked the German Navy’s combat support vessel „FRANKFURT AM MAIN“(A 1412) type EGV 702 (so-called „Berlin-Class“) on the site of the sister shipyard GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel. On a flying visit: On Tuesday, 11th of April 2017, NOBISKRUG’s repair team welcomed the Frigate “HESSEN” (F 221), which was towed directly into dock 8a, on the premises of its sister shipyard GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel. The Naval Vessel type F 123 was commissioned in 2006 and is part of the so called “Sachsen class”.

Rendsburg/Kiel, Germany - The ceremonial keel laying of a next Nobiskrug superyacht-new build project took place at the shipyard’s premises in Kiel.

After gathering of the guests and the yard’s team and following a short address of the management, an 80-ton block-section was lifted by crane into the building shed, marking another important milestone of the construction of the 80-meter superyacht. The construction of all sections with a very high degree of outfitting up to assembly of the complete hull will take place in the sheds of the yard under controlled climate conditions – therewith warranting utmost quality. This is a unique construction process at Nobiskrug and only possible due to the impressive and suitable facilities counting a 900t gantry-crane that serves all sheds through the roofs as well as all gravity docks on the Kiel-site – the longest dock measuring 426m. It is also the first project that benefits from another latest major investment on the sites – a state of the art plasma cutting machine worth abt. 1 million Euros adding complementary to the existing cutting machines.

Traditionally, the Owner brought a special coin that was placed under the keel and once the yacht will be near to completion, the coin will be retrieved and presented back to the Owner for good luck while sailing the oceans. ...

The Schleswig-Holstein superyacht builder is presenting itself at the legendary “Monaco Yacht Show”. The international fair is taking place from 28. September until 1. October in Port Hercules of the Principality.
The organizers are expecting more than 500 manufacturers; many of which regularly show their luxurious yachts there. The fair is known to be the world’s most renowned Boatshow.

Princely reception at GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel: On Monday, the 12th of September 2016, S.A.S. Prince Albert II of Monaco paid the shipyard a private visit as part of his trip to the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel.

GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel presented itself as an attentive host and invited the Prince, after being welcomed by the management, on a helicopter flight over the three shipyards in Northern-Germany belonging to the international Privinvest Group: NOBISKRUG (Rendsburg), LINDENAU (Kiel-Friedrichsort) and GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel. Following the one-hour flight Prince Albert II enjoyed the view from the Sky Lounge on the crane of the Kiel shipyard for an original high-tea. The 900 t gantry crane is one of Kiel’s landmarks, it offers a reception area at an approximate height of 100 m and an impressive 360-degree panoramic view of Kiel.

Any Kiel citizen knows her, the „HANSEKOGGE“. Since many years and not only on occasion of the Kiel Week she is on tour in the Baltic Sea as ambassador of the city being an example for vivid history. With her berth close to the Kiel Maritime Museum she is in sight of our Kiel yard regularly. But this year the honoring sponsoring association has entered into heavy seas as both engines suffered a total loss now having to be replaced at high cost. This is when we will fly the flag as a traditional yard in Kiel by supporting the association with a sponsorship beginning of June 2016.
