NOBISKRUG docks Frigate “HESSEN“ at GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel

On a flying visit: On Tuesday, 11th of April 2017, NOBISKRUG’s repair team welcomed the Frigate “HESSEN” (F 221), which was towed directly into dock 8a, on the premises of its sister shipyard GERMAN NAVAL YARDS Kiel. The Naval Vessel type F 123 was commissioned in 2006 and is part of the so called “Sachsen class”.

Besides the inspection of the underwater hull, which will be accomplished by the German naval arsenal in Wilhelmshaven; during this short stay NOBISKRUG will repair the anchor equipment, carry out painting works on the underwater hull and execute other minor maintenance activities on the 143 m long Frigate.

As part of the 2nd Frigate Squadron the Frigate “HESSEN“ is based at the naval base Wilhelmshaven. The general data is as follows:

Operation Displacement: 5,700 t

Max. Speed: 29 knots

Propulsion: 1 gas turbine 21,500 KW (29,240 PS)

                      2 diesel engines 7,400 KW (10,060 PS)
